The first module of the Indian Film History focuses on a particular moment, the immediate post-independence years when Indian cinema underwent major institutional and aesthetic transformation. The nodes through which we walk in the database are a) The Film Enquiry Committee Report of 1951, b) the International Film festival of 1952, c) The first state-sponsored national Film Seminar of 1955, etc.
After collecting and digitizing the material, each digitized item is further annotated. Depending upon the subject of an individual item we have prepared tags, which act like key words and connect a number of disparate items (written documents, images, video clips). All the items are organized such that each module can be connected with the other yet retain autonomy. The database thus makes way fro individual essay-like exploration and larger historical pictures.
